where in the world is Mrs May

Splish splash I think Mrs May is at a beach at Hawaii  or in fantastic hotel with a great view of the entire  beach. She’s getting changed into a purple scuba outfit to go scuba diving with her friends. Finally we’re in the water
“Hey look it's an enormous fish and it's about to get eaten by an enormous rainbow squid”said Mrs May
“Wait a minute” shouted Lily
(Lily is Mrs Mays friend)I think it’s coming for us” AHHHHHHHHH RUN FOR YOUR LIFE”
One hour later they had lost the squid “few so do you want to go back up now “ asked Mrs May
“Um excuse me of course I do “Lily said tiredly
“Oh good “ said Mrs May
When they got up there they had no idea what to do so they decided to go back to the hotel but to their surprise the key to their room was lost so Lily told Mrs May that she had family here so they went there. Since they didn’t have a car they took the taxi and had a wonderful night except for a possum on the roof. They planned to go hunt down the squid in the morning. In the morning they went back down to the beach to find the squid but they found out that the squid was already killed and on the beach lying there “we should take it to the Museum”Lily said excitedly
Lily had always been excited about  these sort of things “I think we should let people that found it take it to the Museum “ said Mrs May

So instead of going in the water they had lots of fun on land like making sandcastles and sand angels. After that they went back to the hotel to tell their story to everyone else. The next day they had to go home so they went down to the beach to take photos for friends. They took a photo of the squid and then went to a tropical place for lunch. A few hours later they had to board the ferry to get home they spent their time outside because it was boiling outside. Soon they were home and finished telling the story. Mrs May invited lily for a night and they slept happily ever after.

wild fire writing

Wild Fire
Boom crash. I’ve just woken up by a crashing and crackling sound. I get up and open the door to Mum and Dad's room. I shout as loud as I can “ FIRE”! Good they have gotten up. Dad says  “Darling, go outside and wait and we’ll get the others” “Okay “ I say. I run to the lounge and open up the dog's cage and pick him up. I go out but I’ve got to be careful because it's icy on the ground. Suddenly I hear a noise. It makes me jump and I slip. I sit there on the ground crying. It's been a few minutes. I’m not crying now. I quickly remember that I brought my Mum's  phone. I pick it up and ring 1, 1 ,1. I tell them that I live 7 Iona street. Finally they come out. I ‘m still in pain but I’m happy. Very happy.

Tree planting at Waitahuna

Tree planting at Waitahuna
On Tuesday Room 4 and Room 7 and a few parents and teachers went to Waitahuna to do some electric fishing and tree planting. We left at 9:30am.We met some people there, their names were Craig Simpson from Landcare, Keiran and Angus(the electric fisherman), Matt from the Department Conservation, Glenn from the Sinclair Wetlands and two ladies from the Otago Regional Council. We did the tree planting because we wanted to help the fish and the eels that live in the river. We planted flaxes along the river because it is where the eels hide. We had to dig a hole, then we took the plant out of the black bag, and we put it into the hole. Then we covered the hole with mashed up dirt. We stepped on the dirt so that the wind wouldn't blow the plants out. We got into a group of three children and one adult. The two classes planted about 200 flaxes!!!!!!
While we were there, Keiran showed us an eel that he had caught in a net he had set overnight. He also showed us electric fishing, which is where you use an electric current to stun the fish, so that they can catch them and look at them more closely. He told us that the bigger the fish, the more effect the electric shock would have on them. He showed us a brown trout and a lamprey eel that he had caught earlier. Lamprey eels are very rare, and it was the first one he had ever seen. Sometimes they are called sucker eel because they don’t have jaw and they just suck.

Modigliani Self Portrait

This week we have been doing Modigliani portraits. A Modigliani portrait is when you draw yourself with a big nose and a long neck  also you need big eyes. I found it hard to draw my glasses. You need  to have bold blocks of colour.

athletics

Last week was Athletics. I was in the under 9's team. First we did long jump and I came 4th. Next came sprints. I like doing sprints because Dad does it with us. I came 4th again. After that came Nerf. I am not very good at Nerf so I didn't get a placing. Next we did shotput I don't know what I came in that either. Then we did distance. I came 3rd and went in the relay. Finally  it was lunch time. I could not wait for my sausage sizzle  but instead of having fizz we had water. Next was high jump ,even though I was last, I still loved it.  Finally came the relay AND I WAS IN IT ! I dropped  the pole and wasted some time so Read won the relay and we came second.

Swimming Sports

In swimming I have been practising  to  do a whole length of backstroke and freestyle.
This year I am old enough to do the swimming sports. I don't know yet if I'm only going
to do just backstroke or both. I think swimming is really cool. My favourite way to swim is
under water but I don't think I'm ready to do a race doing it.
